They are great because they are all natural and stuffed with wool which retains body heat and smells from home which is often comforting for little ones. Giving thanks

Sometimes it can be hard to see what all there is to be thankful for in the day to day struggles of life, every once in a while I am reminded of how much we have and how lucky we are to all be healthy. 

That's something I need to work on, giving thanks everyday. So I hope everyone enjoys a wonderful thanksgiving this year and give thanks even though there may be tough times right now or coming up a head. Take a look at what you've got I bet there's something special in your days that makes you want to keep going each day through the thick and thin of it. 

Even though my kids at times drive my crazy at times I am thankful because they all teach me something about my self. They are wonderful little people and bring more light to my days than anything else. I am also thankful for my Mom who is always so encouraging in all that I do, I am thankful for my Dad's visit this year on thanksgiving, and being able to spend another year with my family around a delicious meal prepared by my aunt.

On a crafty note! I made my own slippers today from a wool sweater that my mom sent me, I think I'll make a tutorial for them soon. The cost $0 and time 30 minutes from start to finish. These are the comfiest and warmest slippers I have ever owned. I'll post pics soon. 

What else... I got my Kl;een Kanteens today! The colors are awesome!  The kids love them and they are much better quality than some others I have seen. They are 100% Biodegradable but I won't be throwing mine away anytime soon.

I especially love the sippy adapters so the little ones can use them! They would make a great eco friendly gift for someone. And they are BPA free so safe for baby. I got mine here

Organic bamboo and cotton blanket

I made up the cute and cuddly blanket for the shop using my favorite fabric in the world, organic cotton/bamboo and a cotton Ikea receiving blanket. Seriously this fabric is awesome, I wish I could live in it. It is the perfect size for wrapping a little baby in, 32 long by 26 wide.
It was super easy to make, I just pinned both pieces together stitched around the edges, turned and then topstitched the opening closed. Then I added a quilted half circle to one of the edges for interest.
I plan to make up some more of these soon.
I'll be on the hunt for some great flannel to cut up.

Too close for comfort

Oh Christmas, Sometimes you seem so so far away and then at other times you are wayyyy to close. 

I have been thinking a lot about what I am going to make this year for the kids. I am off to scour Sew Mama Sew for some ideas, I'll post some of the ones I hope to do here. I did pretty good last year, but this year I need to get started earlier especially since  I have another recipient to sew for.

One!

I can't believe my baby is One! This time last year we were just getting to know each other. I could do nothing but look at his sweet sleeping face, and now he is about to walk. I still enjoy our quiet times where we sit together and he nurses to sleep, But as he gets older they are farther and fewer between. He will always be my baby anyway. I love my sweet baby boy Benny. One of my favorite things is the beautiful swirl of downy hair that all of my babies have had, so soft and light. I love the way light hits his little head as we walk in the sun. 

Did I mention that it is now snowing? not enough to stick but its here! The light snowy flurries remind me of when I was little and we had to go pick up my Dad at the airport, since he travelled he often came home around Christmas time, and so the feeling and the sight of light snow flurries fills my heart with excitement for the holidays, being with family and the new season ahead. 

Here is my poem of season I wrote a couple years ago, I often think of it as the seasons change. 

It may not be the best poetry in the world but I like it. Oh, and don't worry I haven't gone and started a strange cult or something. "Sweet eternity goddess" is in reference to mother nature. 

Dear Sweet eternity Goddess,

Please incubate our Spring,

beneath gorgeous white petals of Winter,

let her whisper for Summer, 

after the rain floods your gown.

I'm ready for you world,

Are you ready for me? You better be. Vitalie has always been a performer. When we were naming her I was a little worried, but it turns out she suits her name to a T. Vitalie from the root vita (life), rhymes with vitality and she embodies both words perfectly. When she was a baby she would do little dances and look over her shoulder to see if anyone was watching. She is a dreamy little girl always singing, twirling and dancing. She is the 3rd child of 4 and because of that she is strong, she doesn't let anyone push her around that's for sure. Not even the wind. Because she is one of four I find her often creating her own space in the world, even if its in the front hall closet.

Under warm blankets

November happens to be my most favorite month of the year, not just because it contains my birthday but because I feel like it is just such a beautiful transition in to a season where every one and everything finds time to rest. As the world covers its self in blankets of leaves and then snow to rest and prepare itself for the seasons ahead. We are brought closer together to stay inside and just be with each other, cuddled under warm blankets of our own. Which makes me feel thankful that we have the ability to do just that. What would it be like to have no blankets to keep my little ones warm? I have an abundance of fabric, and flannel sheets that could be used to make blankets. So I feel the need to send some blankets to Mama to Mama where they will be used to help another Mama welcome her baby in to this world with warmth.

Little things

I decided to call this blog The Power of Me because I am starting to realize more and more as I get older that the little things that I do each day make an impact on someone somewhere, even if they are in my own living room. I also take pride in the fact that some of the things I do make a difference in the world and to our environment. One of the easiest ways to make a difference is using cloth diapers. I have used them for 3 of my 4 children and I will never regret it. I have bought some and made some until after much tinkering and support from my husband I decided to offer them for sale. I decided that if I was going to do it I would combine the best fabrics and everything that I wanted in a cloth diaper. So I began my store Breezy Babies. I feel very lucky that I can do a little for another Mama to help her make a difference in the life of her baby and in the environment. Cloth diapering is one of the things I feel very passionate about, but I do not judge against others that don't use them. Every Mama knows what works best for her and for her family. Eventually I hope to get involved in an organization that can help send handmade cloth diapers to Mama's that need them.

Happy birthday to me!

Well! Here I am in blog world, I have been wanting to do this for a while and I thought, that today, my 30th birthday would be a good day to start. I am now officially old. Some of the people in my household seem to think it was the olden days back when I was growing up. Yeah, ya know back when there were typewriters and cassette tapes. Now I know how my mother felt when I said that to her. Its funny the way children view their parents sometimes. Sometimes the things they do can just melt my heart. Today R and the kids decorated the kitchen in streamers, banners and balloons while I was off at school. It was such a pleasant surprise and it means a lot to me. I am so grateful and happy that I am alive today, and that I have such a wonderful family. Today I am 30. I am starting a new chapter in my life as our world starts a new chapter in history at the same time.
